Home Sleep Test Only (Without a Visit With Us)

We accept direct orders/referrals for home sleep apnea tests. Many primary care doctors and specialists prefer to just order a home sleep apnea test directly, without having to complete a consultation with a sleep specialist at Keldik.

When your doctor orders a direct test, they will send us all the information needed for the test. Our clinic will then coordinate the test with you, and we will send the final report back to your doctor.

Some doctors prefer to order the test directly, with no consultation required. Others prefer that you meet with one of our sleep medicine specialists first, so we can decide together if a test is needed. Still others order the test directly but may request a consultation only if the results are abnormal.

No particular order or way of doing the test is better than the other. It all depends on your doctor’s preferences.

What do we need for a direct test?

  • Test order signed within the last 6 months.
  • Copy of the office visit or consultation note where the need for the sleep test is mentioned.
    • This note should be finalized and signed.
    • Some insurance companies have very specific requirements about the content of this note in order for them to cover the cost of the test. Some other insurance companies are more flexible and could be okay with just a copy of a telephone encounter or email/message.
    • Our team will review the referral note and will let you know if we have any concerns. We will work with your doctor to gather all the information that is needed prior to the test. The main goal of this process is to reduce the risk that your insurance may not pay for the test later on.
  • Insurance information, if you plan to use your medical insurance for this test.
  • Our clinic will also provide some paperwork that is needed.

Why complete your sleep study with us instead of an online company?

It comes down to quality, and knowing the credentials and experience of the person interpreting your test. When you complete your sleep apnea test with Keldik, you know that your test will be reviewed and interpreted by a board-certified sleep medicine specialist with ample experience in the field of sleep medicine and sleep tests.

Nowadays, it is possible to use a quick online company to get your sleep study completed. They will probably mail you the test unit and provide a report quickly, but in many cases your test will be interpreted by a sleep specialist who may be far away, in another state. If you were to have questions about an online test report, it would be difficult to meet with the person who reviewed your data.

When you complete a test with us, you can see the name of the sleep medicine specialist who signed your report, and you can request a consultation to review those results directly with the person who completed the test. We also use the best home sleep apnea testing equipment and maintain strict protocols regarding calibration and the accuracy of our equipment.
